Gordon Hill

A Manchester United Legend

Gordon Hill, or “Gordy,” a Manchester United legend, joined the club in November 1975 and quickly became a fan favourite at Old Trafford. Known for his dazzling wing play and stunning goals, Hill was a key player in Tommy Docherty’s attacking side, often providing the unexpected. His goal-to-game ratio rivaled that of Cristiano Ronaldo. However, his departure in April 1978, against his wishes, was met with widespread disapproval from fans.

England International and Career Highlights

A London native, Hill earned the nickname “King of All Cockneys” and “Merlin” for his magical skills. He began his career at Millwall and went on to play for Derby County, QPR, and several clubs in North America. By the time of his transfer from Manchester United, Hill was an England international. After retiring from playing, he transitioned into coaching and directing, focusing on youth football and offering insights on the game through media.
